Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you wear life jackets all the time?   A: No, not all the time.  We don't wear them down below in the cabin, nor do we always wear them in the cockpit during the day in calm passaging conditions or at anchor.  During night passages and in brisk sailing conditions, no one is allowed out of the cabin without lifejacket and safety teather.

Q: Do we find it boring bobbing around at sea all the time?  A: Passage making is not a big part of our trip, hence we are usually stopped somewhere interesting at anchor.  From there, we do daytrips and excursions to all sorts of fascinating sites, or we provision the boat or sometimes we just swim and snorkel.

Q: How often and where do you get groceries?  A: So far, Mexico has been very easy to get grocery items.  They have major supermarkets in all the major centers, which are as modern, clean, and as well stocked as any in the US or Canada.   Walmarts and SAM's Club show up often.  When we don't need to make a major provisioning trip, we usually just shop as needed at the small stores and markets that are in every town.  We have a fridge and freezer on board.  The biggest challange is being organized when you store things away, otherwise it's like "finding your special Christmas platter" everyday!
